Super nervous about starting my job as a home health aide tomorrow, any helpful tips?

I've been a home care aide for over 5 years now, I do care providing for two of my family members. The first thing you should do is ask lots of questions, this seems like a no-brainer but some just don't do it. Find out what your client or clients like, what they don't like and what they need help with. Questions not only will help you figure out what they need from you but will also brake the ice. If a family member is on hand, utilize them to there full power. Get all the information you can from them. Like if the client had a care provider before? History of falls? How independent is the client? Also because you will become close to your client, you can ask things like where the client likes to go(this is if you do transportation as well) and favorite restaurants. Also a huge part of your job is to be understanding of your client and their situation. There home might not be the cleanest, and it might not be in the best side of town, so try not to judge. Remember your client is nervous too, they don't know you and you don't know them. So walk in with a pleasant smile and a open heart, and you'll be a great home care aide.
